Gloucestershire Lettering Arts

Who we are

We are a group of calligraphy enthusiasts, based around Gloucester. The group began life as Glevum Scribes, founded in 1991 by professional scribes, sculptors, engravers and tutors, who wished to form a group for people to share their lettering-based interests and to learn from each other.

GLA continues to flourish with a membership of over 60 people. We welcome calligraphers of all abilities. Members are encouraged to take part in workshops, regardless of levels of experience. We also hope members will contribute their work to competitions and exhibitions and there is an annual award.

Members receive a newsletter three times a year with reports of recent workshops and interesting articles. Members have priority when booking workshops.
